Pilgrimage is tiring. The place you sleep shouldn't add to it.
Devotees travel to Ujjain from every corner of India, some for a single day, others for a whole season of vows. Most arrive tired and leave inspired.
We started Mahakal Dharmshala to give that journey a steady centre: a bed that is properly clean, a door that locks, a team that answers the phone and a location close enough to get back for the next aarti. Nothing fancy, and nothing missing.
Four promises
Clean first
Rooms are turned out and checked every day. Nothing is handed over half-done.
Honest always
The tariff you hear on the phone is the tariff you pay at check-in.

Ujjain, in a few lines
Ujjain, known in ancient texts as Avantika, sits on the banks of the Shipra and is counted by tradition among India's seven sacred cities.
It is the home of Mahakal, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, and has long been a centre of learning, poetry and astronomy. Today it welcomes millions of pilgrims, especially during Shravan, Mahashivratri and the once-in-twelve-years Simhastha.
Explore more: places to visit, the Mahakal Lok corridor, the city's astronomy heritage and a day trip to Omkareshwar.
